It is with tears in my eyes to write yet another note of passing. On July 29th, 2016 the angels came again and brought Crystal Coleman home with them. She had been with the district and a CUPE members for years. This past year she showed interest in Stewarding, eager to learn and help. Hearing from several teachers, she was a delight to have in their class. Crystal was truly passionate about helping children, co workers, friends and her family. Her smile could light up a room, and her laugh was infectious. Crystal passed away peacefully of kidney failure. Thoughts and prayers for her family, friends, and co-workers. May you be at peace, you will be missed by many Crystal.
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Crystal Ann Coleman (nee Mason) of Fort McMurray, on July 29th, 2016, after a short stay in the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.
Crystal was born August 23rd, 1968 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, the only child to parents Gary and Linda Mason. She spent her childhood growing up near Enderby, BC and Macgregor, MB. She graduated from Macgregor High School 1986, and took a course in Hairdressing. Shortly after, she moved to Fort McMurray in 1988, and lived there till her passing.
In 1991 she married Dean Coleman, formerly of Kinistino, SK. Crystal and Dean had two children, Riley Mason in 1994 and Emily Jane in 1995. Crystal and Dean separated in 2003. Riley is now 22 and lives and works in Fort McMurray, while Emily is 21 and lives and works in Victoria BC.
Crystal spoke often of her childhood, spending time on motorbikes, figure skating, playing girls hockey and spending time with friends and cousins. Except for the early years of her children’s lives, she worked in various jobs, spending the last few years working with children with special needs, in the public school system. She enjoyed her work, and felt like she was helping these children grow.
Crystal leaves behind her children Riley and Emily (Chris Harbottle), her father Gary (Grace), from Scotch Creek, BC and her mother Linda, of Ponoka, AB., and many, many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
In keeping with Crystal’s wishes, there will no service. Her remains will be buried in BC at a later date.
The family would like to encourage people to show their love and support by making donations, in lieu of flowers, in her memory to the charity of your choice in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
If you wish to mail cards or anything, here is where they can be sent.
